Atlantic Marine Realizes 210% Return on Investment and Six-month Payback Using EmpCenter® Workforce Management

Livonia, Michigan – July 20, 2010 – WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and compliance concerns, announces that its client, Atlantic Marine, has received a Nucleus Research 2010 Technology ROI Award for its use of its EmpCenter® workforce management solution.

Nucleus Research, a global provider of investigative technology research and advisory services, received over 350 nominations and assessed the costs and business benefits of their technology implementations to quantify each project’s ROI over a three-year period. Nucleus Research awarded the top ten IT implementations that showed tremendous value per dollar spent.

In 2008, Atlantic Marine realized the organization needed more functionality than their previous workforce management system could provide, particularly in their need to meet the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) regulations. The DCAA requires Atlantic Marine employees to verify, on a daily basis, the contract jobs they worked on, and, after an extensive evaluation, EmpCenter was chosen to manage their complex and precise labor tracking requirements.

Although the DCAA regulations were the initial factor in looking for a new workforce management solution, Atlantic Marine soon realized that productivity and cost efficiencies could be gained as well. EmpCenter showed Atlantic Marine immediate cost benefits that included decreased administrative time, reduced paper costs, and increased productivity, resulting in $1.9 million savings annually.

Today, Atlantic Marine employees spend their time focusing on shipbuilding rather than manual payroll, scheduling, or time and labor management tasks. Automating scheduling is the largest productivity improvement. Supervisors can schedule jobs in advance so employees can proceed to their assigned tasks immediately upon starting their shifts. These workers also have less downtime related to signing in and out, or working with HR to correct paycheck errors.
