Five Tips to Retain Top Performers

Employee retention is an important responsibility for us HR professionals. It’s our job to make sure our executives, managers, and supervisors are trained to help us retain our top performers. Employee retention is important to any business. When there is turnover, there is a cost, including loss of productivity, hiring and training, and the time it takes the employee to master the job. During my career, I learned that employee retention is often correlated to the employee’s manager and how the manager treats his/her employees.

Does Fatigue Management Affect Your Organization?

Being alert is important for any job, but there are jobs where it is critical that the employee is fit for duty. Atlantic Marine
Customer Since: April 2007
Industry: Shipbuilding & Repair

Challenge: Atlantic Marine, a premier shipyard on the Gulf of Mexico and U.S. East Coast, wanted to improve and streamline its workforce management processes to increase productivity and meet business goals. Managers spent several hours a week on routine daily tasks regarding employee time, labor allocation, verifying projects, requesting time-off, etc. Managers also found it difficult to anticipate overtime needs or analyze injury rates on a job-by-job basis. Cost estimators were challenged when creating bids. It was also critical that Atlantic Marine increase the frequency that employees verified their time and labor on a project-by-project basis, because government auditors wanted daily, rather than weekly, labor accounting, which could not be automated within the existing Kronos system.

Results Using EmpCenter: By deploying WorkForce Software’s EmpCenter workforce management suite, Atlantic Marine lowered clerical headcount, reduced labor costs, and improved the productivity of supervisors and report builders.

ROI: 210%
Payback: 6 months
Average annual benefit: $1,938,576
