Latest Research Explores Key Trends in Areas of Risk Management, Organizational Performance and Employee Fatigue

LAS VEGAS (October 8, 2014) – WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, today announced the availability of its new research report, “Workforce Management Trend Survey 2014-2015” at the 17th Annual HR Technology Conference & Exposition, held October 7 – 10 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Now in its fifth year, WorkForce Software conducts its annual survey in conjunction with Workforce magazine, a leading publication and online destination serving HR professionals. The latest edition focuses on three areas of growing concern among today’s workforce management professionals: risk management and compliance; organizational performance and efficiency; and the costs of and remedies for employee fatigue. Overall, 930 HR professionals responded to this year’s survey, and the overwhelming majority (78%) hold manager-, director- or executive-level posts at their current organization.

Key findings from the “Workforce Management Trend Survey 2014-2015” include:

The majority of organizations view a decline in morale as the greatest risk of noncompliance with labor laws.

  • Operations departments are taking more direct ownership over workforce management systems and practices, signaling a shift in how these tools are used.
  • Nearly eight in ten organizations use specific scheduling practices to help new hires become more effective more quickly.
  • Roughly two-thirds of organizations offer leave programs that are more generous than required by law, suggesting that employees have raised expectations about work-life balance.
  • Employee fatigue is widely seen as an obstacle to performance; three-quarters of respondents reported that fatigue has a moderate-to-major impact on their business, and there are multiple strategies being used to combat it.
