Complete automation enables strategic approach

LIVONIA, Mich. (September 5, 2012) – WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, today announced that the University of Guelph, one of Canada’s top-ranked comprehensive universities, has selected EmpCenter to automate time & attendance and scheduling for its Ontario Veterinary College (OVC).

Founded in 1862, OVC is the oldest continuously run veterinary college in North America, and a world leader in integrating animal, human, and environment health. Its Health Sciences Center, a comprehensive veterinary hospital, conducts groundbreaking research in addition to treating more than 16,000 animals per year.

OVC employs a diverse staff of clinicians, faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and administrative and support staff to jointly run its university programs and Health Sciences Centre. After an extensive evaluation, the college determined that WorkForce Software’s EmpCenter suite would uniquely address the full spectrum of time, attendance, and scheduling requirements on a single platform.

“Putting a system in place that will automatically track hours worked, attendance, vacations, and calculate the overtime associated under each collective agreement is going to provide tremendous efficiencies for our organization,” said Carol Ann Higgins, Chief Administrative Officer of OVC. “By providing a complete view of our organization, EmpCenter will give us greater reporting and insight into our activities, and help us to continually improve our operations.”

Healthcare scheduling efficiencies were a top priority, and are projected to be a core area of benefit from the EmpCenter implementation. “As is common in human healthcare environments, scheduling at our Veterinary Health Sciences Centre can be highly complex,” added Brent Rumford, Senior Manager, Operations & Service Delivery. “Our partnership with WorkForce Software will help us improve efficiencies, decision making, and client service.”

“We are seeing increased demand for EmpCenter from universities and the healthcare space,” commented Ken Olson, WorkForce Software’s Vice President of Product Development. “EmpCenter’s depth and flexibility allow these organizations to automate their most complex requirements on a single enterprise platform. As a result, clients like the University of Guelph gain a holistic view that serves as a foundation for strategic workforce management goals, such as schedule optimization, with tangible benefits to their organization.”
