EmpCenter Helps U.S. Shipyard Manage Workforce and Reduce Costs

Livonia, Mich., December 18, 2008 – WorkForce Software, Inc., a leader in workforce management solutions, announces Atlantic Marine, a premier shipyard on the Gulf of Mexico and U.S. East Coast, has implemented its EmpCenter® solution, including Time and Attendance, Accruals and Absence Manager, Attendance Point Tracking and Alert Manager, Employee Self-Service, and Activity Based Costing.

“The Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requires our employees to verify daily the contract jobs they worked on,” said CIO Craig Honour of Atlantic Marine. “This was a mandatory requirement in our search for workforce management software, and WorkForce Software’s EmpCenter fit our needs.”

Atlantic Marine attributes their successful EmpCenter deployment to a collaborative work effort from both WorkForce Software and Atlantic Marine. Together, both project teams created a detailed project plan that included specific dates for milestones, team communications, and standing actions.

“We had a good set of requirements before we started the implementation, which helped make the project easier to manage,” said Honour. “I was very impressed with the WorkForce team. They followed the plan that was put in place and helped us reach our goals. In fact, we agreed to pay WorkForce a bonus if the implementation was successful. We were happy to pay because they earned every penny of the bonus.”

Now that EmpCenter is in production, Atlantic Marine recognizes a number of benefits, including improved processes and cost savings. Using EmpCenter Employee Self-Service empowers employees to perform routine interactions, like entering time, requesting time-off, and verifying daily jobs much easier than before. As a result, employees make fewer trips to the payroll and HR offices, so they have more time to handle other responsibilities. Prior to using EmpCenter, approximately 200 supervisors spent six hours each week processing employee timesheets. That time has been reduced to an hour or less each week by automating the labor tracking and approval process.

“Atlantic Marine is known worldwide for their shipyard services. That kind of recognition comes only to companies that strive to better their processes everyday they do business,” said CEO and President Kevin Choksi of WorkForce Software. “We feel the same way about our business and are proud they selected us as their workforce management partner.
