Denver Metro Wastewater Reclamation District Channels Employee Time with WorkForce Software’s EmpCenter

Workforce Management Project Focuses on Activity Based Costing and Employee Self-Service

Livonia, Mich., June 12, 2007 – WorkForce Software, Inc., a leader in workforce management solutions, announced today the Denver Metro Wastewater District implemented its EmpCenter™ suite. The Metro District implemented several EmpCenter modules, including Time and Attendance, Accruals and Absence Manager, FMLA Manager, Activity Based Costing, and Employee Self-Service.

The Metro District chose WorkForce Software’s EmpCenter to automate its workforce management process, emphasizing on labor distribution. “Based on proposals from a number of software companies, we narrowed our search to three vendors,” said Sr. Programmer/Analyst Carmen Linnebur, Metro Wastewater Reclamation District. “WorkForce Software was the only vendor we looked at that could easily support our complex labor distribution.”

WorkForce Software typically implements the EmpCenter solution for its customers, but the Metro District chose to implement the suite themselves, with WorkForce’s project team available for assistance. “Since we learned how to configure EmpCenter ourselves, we can make important changes on-demand,” said Linnebur. “This is a huge benefit that saves us time and money.”

EmpCenter can be configured to meet any organizations workforce management requirements, regardless of the complexity, and without customization. “The Workforce consultant trained us on how to configure the system and get the desired results,” said Linnebur. “This was a first-time experience for me, but the consultant was patient, thorough, and always available for support. We were impressed with her experience and knowledge of the system and our needs.”

Implementing EmpCenter eliminated paper-based, manual processes that tended to be inaccurate in reporting and tracking time, creating additional work for the payroll department. EmpCenter’s Employee Self-Service module automates employee interactions such as reporting time, absences, time billed to projects, time-off requests, and more, so managers and HR staff resources are not wasted.

One issue the Metro District wanted to resolve was the duplicate data-entry for engineers and maintenance staff. Engineers and maintenance staff manually submitted hours via paper time sheets to payroll and also submitted related information to other clerical staff who entered the information into project tracking and maintenance management systems. This duplication of effort wasted staff time that could be used more productively in other areas and had the potential for creating inaccuracies between systems. EmpCenter’s Activity Based Costing module is fully integrated with the Time and Attendance module, so hours worked
and project codes are entered simultaneously and accurately the first time.

“The implementation and rollout of EmpCenter was successful at Denver’s Metro Wastewater Reclamation District,” said CEO Kevin Choksi, WorkForce Software. “Our goal is to meet our customer’s workforce management needs within their budgets. We look forward to a long relationship with the Metro District.”
