Job Opening for Financial Controller
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and implement accounting policies, financial controls, and operating procedures
- Hands-on management of all accounting activities of the Company including general ledger, payables, receivables, fixed assets and payroll
- Ensure that the financial reporting processes are in accordance with GAAP and the Company’s Financial Procedures
- Work with external CPA in preparation of tax returns, audits, and financial statements
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for accuracy
- Maintain financial controls to safeguard the company assets and to identify risks in a timely manner
- Review company insurance coverage for completeness and make required changes
- Management of financial, fiduciary and compliance audits
- Maintaining relationships with auditors, bankers, insurers, actuaries and other members of the financial community
- Supervise investment of funds and work with banks and investment bankers to obtain financing for the company as needed
- Drive business goals such as cost reduction and margin improvement initiatives
- Provide management with weekly, monthly and quarterly financial metrics, tools and key performance indicators (KPI’s) to analyze report and drive the business results
- Manage the strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Provide financial leadership and guidance to the members of the senior operating team
- Negotiate and modify contracts with customers, partners, and vendors. Draft contract changes and review with legal counsel.
- Set up/maintain the Project Budgets with Project Managers
- Review and monitor financial compliance with all customer contracts
- Negotiate terms and manage contracts with third parties
- Work with outside legal counsel on issues affecting company risks and legal issues
- Support management and project managers in the negotiations and maintenance of contracts
- Assist project managers, and management in the day-to-day administration of the contracts (e.g. performance levels, compliance requirements, subcontract administration, out-of-scope tasks, disputes, written communications with clients, etc.)
Requirements
- The successful candidate must possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA preferred.
- Public or private accounting experience
- Experience in a professional services environment
- Multi-currency accounting
- The candidate must have a strong sense of urgency and drive for results; someone who is decisive, confident and communicates effectively. Must also be multi-faceted and have an ability to concentrate on a number of priorities at once while identifying those duties which can and should be delegated.
- Experience drafting a variety of different and complex types of contracts, including licensing agreements, services agreements, NDAs, reseller agreements, consulting agreements, and sales agreements.
Experience
- Previous experience as a controller/finance or operations manager is required, preferably in a high growth technology company.
- Experience with domestic and international markets, including setting up business operations and handling tax and legal matters overseas
- Knowledge and skills in implementing Sarbanes-Oxley compliant procedures
